Prompted by my recent curiosity in how people achieve appealing B&W photo, I attempted for the first time to convert an entire album to black and white, and not just by the mere application of B&W presets, but by carefully studying tonal quality of different B&W presets and learning how to properly apply them. The interesting thing about B&W is that it is highly subjective, and its post-process can be quite personalized. Everyone seems to have their own set of methods. Finding the right B&W tone for a photo is like searching for the soul of the photo, so it requires a great understanding of the subject and the idea behind the photo. For this reason, I was unable to find an unified approach to achieve a satisfying B&W photo.
I have posted this album to my flickr account (link), but have included some thumbnails for my readers to get sample. I got a feedback that some photo may have been too much. Let me know what you think.
